Mission Statement
Caritas Christi Center, a ministry of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, is dedicated to providing formal and informal opportunities for spiritual growth and faith formation in the Catholic tradition. Caritas Christi Center invites God’s people to deepen their relationship with Jesus through prayer, study, and mutual interaction in order that they might bear witness to His compassionate Heart.
Facilities
Center yourself in the “love of the Heart of Christ” at the Caritas Christi Center. Sponsored by the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Caritas Christi Center is located at Mount Sacred Heart, a tranquil setting on one of the highest points in Hamden, Connecticut. Open fields and thickly wooded areas, as well as orchards, gardens, shrines, and spacious lawns comprise the beautiful 125-acre New England setting.
Facilities include:
- Sacred Heart Chapel (capacity: 300)
- the John Paul II Room (capacity: 100)
- the Clelian Conference Room (capacity: 49)
- breakout rooms, dining rooms, and a kitchen.
The Caritas Christi Center is available for days and evenings of recollection, workshops, and days of prayer.
Ongoing Programs
- Private Day Retreats (9 am-3 pm) for individuals wishing to “come apart.” Snacks are provided; bring your own lunch. $15
- Eucharistic Adoration every First Friday (September through June), Noon-3 pm, Sacred Heart Chapel
- Spiritual Direction, suggested donation $20. Please call for an appointment.
- Centering Prayer Group—meets the last Saturday of each month from 1:30-3 pm

Basic Use of the Caritas Christi Center
Half Day: $5 per person
Full Day: $10 per person
All Day & Evening: Please inquire
The Sacred Heart Chapel has a capacity of 300; the John Paul II Room has a capacity of 100; and the Clelian Conference Room can accommodate 49.
- A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm a date.
- If your group requires a speaker, please inquire about availability and cost.
- Food service is available, from drinks and snacks to meals. The cost will depend on the selection and the size of the group.
- A $75 refundable security deposit is required. Rooms are to be left as found.
- Groups must provide a Certificate of Insurance.
- Overnight stays for individuals are available.
- The Center is a “no-smoking” facility.
