Annual Appeal

The Province’s Annual Appeal provides support for our highest priorities:

  • Educating our young sisters in formation
  • Maintaining our various ministries throughout the Province
  • Preserving the quality of life of our retired sisters

Corde Society

The Corde Society honors consecutive Annual Appeal donors. Meaning “from the heart,” the Corde Society celebrates these loyal members of our community who recognize the importance of consistent annual giving and have given to the Province for three or more consecutive years.

Endow Your Annual Appeal Gift!

Endow your Annual Appeal gift by establishing a bequest in your will, the investments from which can create an Annual Appeal gift that lasts indefinitely. For instance, it is possible with a $20,000 gift to create a $1,000 Annual Appeal gift that is in place forever! To learn more, contact the Office of Mission Advancement at (203)281-2562.

“The Nuns Have Been Taking Care of Me All My Life.”
    Posted March 21, 2013

Raised in the Hill section of St. Louis, Lou Grimi and his sister Mary grew up with the Apostles who ministered there. Their aunt was Sr. Annunziata (Nancy) Barni. Mary, seven years older than Lou, was in the first class at Sacred Heart Villa, the Apostles’ early childhood development center. The Villa’s legendary Sr. Felicetta Cola taught them both. Lou remembers Sr. Felicetta making her famous sauce and selling it at parish events. When Mary was 15, she entered the Apostle Congregation and moved to Connecticut for her formation. “My mom made me write her a letter every week telling her what was going on in the neighborhood,” Lou says.

    Posted March 21, 2013

Larry Tornetto is a native of the Hill section of St. Louis. Natives of the Hill are mostly Italian and are especially dedicated to the Apostles because the Apostles have lived and ministered on the Hill for many decades. He graduated from St. Ambrose School, where the Apostles have taught since 1941. His three children also graduated from St. Ambrose, and he is a lifelong member of St. Ambrose parish. An electrician by trade, Larry did a great deal of work at the school and the church after he retired. Sr. Maureen Martin, the current Provincial Superior of the Apostles, was then principal of St. Ambrose. “She kept me busy with many projects, like rewiring the convent and installing new lights in the chapel.” He adds, with a twinkle in his eye, “She could talk me into anything.”
