Scripture

Though you cannot find the titleImage used courtesy of the Apostleship of Prayer Heart of Jesus in the Sacred Scriptures there are many images that connect to the Heart of Jesus. The early Church writers knew the Hebrew Scriptures very well. As they proclaimed the mystery of Jesus, they used Old Testament references to express their faith in Jesus. With the eyes of faith they saw various Hebrew Scripture passages as referring to Jesus. We need to read Sacred Scripture with these same eyes of faith. If we do that then the images that refer to the Heart of Jesus will reveal themselves to us.

Specifically, here you will find some Old Testament Passages which the Church uses for the Votive Mass of the Sacred Heart ofSr. Maria Battaglia Jesus. For each day of the week you will find five helps to deepening your own relationship with the Heart of Jesus. First, is a brief introduction, then the scripture passage itself; third, a set of reflection questions which will help you break open the word; fourth, a connection that may be made with Sacred Heart Spirituality and the scripture passage; lastly, a prayer starter-to lead you to pray as you will. There are seven passages one for each day of the week.
