International Missions

On September 1, 2016, three Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from the United States arrived in the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore at the invitation of Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan, who shared his vision for innovative initiatives to re-ignite the faith within the Diocese.

Our ministry in Ireland is truly one of accompaniment, encounter, and evangelization. We strive to share Blessed Clelia’s charism of promoting the love of the Sacred Heart in ways that will rekindle the spark of His Love in the hearts of those who have seemingly forgotten Him. Our Apostle missionaries work closely with the bishop, diocesan staff, parish priests, and lay volunteers in various ministries, particularly those focused on youth and adult evangelization. Ministries include homeless outreach, parish faith formation, youth retreats, children’s religious education programs, home visits with the elderly, and young adult spiritual companionship.
